MIAD Industrial Design Project
Lockers
Photoshop Mind Map foam core 20in x 30in December 2019 Exhibition Text This project was inspired by the constant complaints from fellow classmates and personal experience with the lockers at our school. There's are many things can be improved but I focused on a couple things, that I thought would change the whole dynamic of the lockers. |
My POV Statement
I Met :
Ronald Reagan's school head engineer.
I Was Amazed To Learn :
That our engineer needs some designs for new lockers at our school. Which means that our school has been planing to change the lockers in that we already have for better ones because they also realize the problems that not students but teachers too have with the lockers. By knowing that my school want to fix this problem means that they'll be open to some designs I come up with.
It Would Make A Real Difference :
If I could make lockers easier for students and I at my school to use and stop the complaints. I will also be a great to give our engineer designs from a student's perspective, who actually uses them on a daily basis.

Planning
inspiration
My inspiration came from common complaints I've heard for the last three years I've been here and my own personal problems I had with lockers . Which is the size of the we have now. It's a very small space to have with others around you.
Planning Sketches

Planning Sketches
For these first three Sketches I started off just drawing what i know about our lockers at school already. When I did that i was able to document my thoughts on the paper and helped me remember what i was thinking and allowed me to come up with ideas for the lockers because I had visualize to look at. My first sketch was just a drawing by memory of what the lockers look like and the way it opens and closes. My second Sketch was the lockers again just with people in it. So i could realize how other people might ( from different height or size ) interact with the lockers we have now. My Third Sketch and fourth also had people but it was showing how students at our school might interact while their opening up their locker around others. The last sketch I made had people standing in front of wider lockers. |
My Mind Map
I made three different mind maps. I have one that shows what normal lockers usually have, another that shows have our locker has and one that shows what our lockers don't have.
What lockers have
What our lockers have
What don't our lockers have
What I have came up with after making a Mind Map
Reflection
After presenting my project at Miad, I was told get more of the students ideas or suggestion about lockers here at Reagan. So i can add them to my design because it gives me something to show the engineer that not just me but a lot of other students agree with this design. This could make her want to agree with my design because I had gather research for student that go to our school. Other than that my overall design was great. It would've been better if I scanned my photos and used them for photoshop.
